I. B. Remsen Studio Tour 4

Looking in the kiln shed from the front under the grape arbor we can see the large gas kiln in the center back. To the right the silver round thing is a smaller electric kiln. To the left are the ware shelves. Underneath the ware shelves I have storage for my tote boards and kiln furniture. The gas kiln is about 54" wide and about 6' tall. It takes 7 hours to fire to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. In the last two or three hours of firing it consumes around 500,000 BTUs/hr. Yes, it does get hot in the kiln shed.
